Barrio Las Flores has been awaiting their own chapel for some twelve years. The members were thrilled when the official announcement was made. The groundbreaking or first shovelful ("primera palada") was scheduled for Saturday at 2pm. We arrived a half hour early to sing in the choir. When we saw the lot, we thought we were at the wrong place because it was hardly the primera palada. Tractors and bulldozers had been doing their fair share. It was about 3:30 when the program started. A former bishop, the stake President, the current Bishop, and the architect spoke. The choir sang and arrangement of "La oracion del Profeta." It was fun to be able to be a part of the celebration.

Nope, it's not real grass. Nor is it really the primera palada.

The tents were a nice thought, but at this hour of the afternoon no one under the tent was in the shade.

Bet you can't find us in the choir!

The bishopric, stake president, counselor, and former bishop do the honors.

Where's Stephanie?
