Eliza is a little parrot. We hear our own words and phrases come out of her mouth all the time. For example, when Eliza was "helping" Mike fix the handrail at Darbie's house, she told Caleb, "I know you're a good helper Caleb, but there are some things I need to do by myself." If that doesn't sound like a 2-year-old, it's because Mike had been telling her something very similar not too long before that.
Eliza has always liked reading books, but lately has liked being told stories, as well. On our trip, we told her lots of stories as we drove or when we tried to get her to go to sleep at night. She is quite good at reciting the stories. Sometimes at night she re-tells the stories to Caleb or her animals or dolls.
Eliza rescues animals like it's her job. Can you tell that "Diego" is one of her favorite shows to watch?
Most of the pictures I took during December were on our trip out West, so I'll save those for the Christmas post. Here are a few others from the month:
Eliza made a tie for Daddy out of brown paper. She was so excited to put it on him.
Eliza and Caleb could spend hours playing in the pantry. They also love the lazy Susan that has small appliances on it. In the picture above, she told me that they were making macaroni and cheese, though it looks more like toasted jello.
Eliza loves to dress up. She was thrilled to find a dress to wear at Grandma Baker's house...
... and a hat at Darbie's house.
Traveling for my brother's wedding and Christmas, really took a toll on Eliza's bedtime routine and sleep habits. After two and a half weeks, I think having the kids sleep in their own beds was the number one thing I was looking forward to.
