Eliza and Caleb had been sleeping in Grammy's sewing room for about 6 weeks without getting into trouble (besides the typical crying at bedtime and naptime). This time started out the same. There was crying and whining, but then the kids started to play together well. They were pretending and having a grand old time. I dozed in and out in the room next door. They had been in there an hour and a half without sleeping a wink when I awoke to Eliza telling Caleb,
"Don't clip my hair, Caleb. I already clipped it myself."
Well that sure got me up from my nap.
I walked to find Eliza's new 'do. I almost cried, but ended up stifling laughter instead. I was relieved that it was only her bangs and not her long curls. She'd gotten Caleb too. He'd had a haircut less than a week before, so his hair was already really short. Still she managed to snip chunks right to the scalp in more than a dozen places. Along with the hair on the ground, there were hundreds of buttons and other sewing notions, as well as the package to the brand new shears she had opened.
I wanted to see how long it would take Mike to notice. Sometimes he is very perceptive, other times he's clueless. Well, this time, within seconds of seeing Eliza after walking in that evening, he says to me,
"Did you cut Eliza's hair again?"
No, Mike. The quarter inch I trimmed off her bangs a few days ago was just fine. (In Mike's defense, he saw her from across the room and once he got a closer look he knew she had done it herself.)
Well here are the pictures you're waiting for:
I know it could have been a whole lot worse. Thankfully Eliza's hair grows fast. Until then, she'll just look like she cut her own hair. Oh, and they got a big, long time-out as a consequence, so hopefully there will be no more shenanigans.

Oh man! We've been through that. Elaina cut Kate's hair. All over her head down to the scalp...needless to say, I DID cry. :)
Oh no! I have seen much worse (girl all over the head), but this isn't fun either!
OH my! lol. So far (knock on wood) my kids haven't taken scissors to their hair.
Love it! Love it!! Thanks for the good laugh. I'm impressed by your no tears!!
That happened with my my brother and sister when I was pretty little. Except the babysitter watched my brother cut my sister's hair while talking to my mom and not telling her... Good thing it grows out, huh? :)
I had a friend who was a balloon artist to earn money for his mission. He didn't wear a clown costume either. I'm kinda hoping my boys will take it up and use it to earn money for their missions one day, too. It's cool that you did it. Fun facts and all... I know what you mean about coming up with peppy energy. Let me know if you do take it up again. It'd be fun to hear about. Oh, and I have compared it to origami, too. :)
