The news of our family to
those who might care.
It’s fun to reflect and sum up
the year
In couplets and stanzas with
memories clear.
We’ll start out with Lily
since she was our first,
Our love for her makes our
hearts want to burst.
She’s not forgotten; her
memory’s real--
We’re thankful for Christ
whose power can heal.
She’s our reminder to look
past today
To a future reunion, together
to stay.
Eliza loves first grade and
does very well;
In all of her subjects she
wants to excel.
Reading’s her favorite; she’s
just like her Pop--
She eats up each chapter; you
can’t make her stop.
She likes to jump rope, to
juggle and sing,
To play the piano and draw
everything.
Caleb’s in school now; he
started grade K--
He’s made lots of new friends
who all love to play.
He still adores building with
hammers and nails,
Creating adventures and
blazing new trails.
Caleb likes learning ‘bout
animals too
With lots of rough-housing
like boys always do.
Josh is a cheerful and quite
happy guy;
He “reads” and he asks lots
of questions of “why.”
Do not call him baby or
little or small;
He will protest that he’s big
and he’s tall--
Josh wants to do what the big
kids all do.
He’s sassy and spunky, with
good manners too.
Lawyering’s still Michael’s
full-time career:
Drawing up contracts and
making trusts clear.
His days are quite long and
each week’s quickly filled,
But on weekends he’s got a
treehouse to build.
He’s still a sweet, patient
husband and dad
Who makes time for what
matters which makes us all glad.
Steph spends her days hanging
out with the Josh,
Cooking up dinner and doing
the wash.
She also stays busy with
running her site--
A new-ish endeavor, a blog
she does write.
Sometimes it’s crazier than
she prefers,
But she feels so blessed with
the life that is hers.
We’ve got a surprise for
friends who aren’t near
(For those who live close,
it’s abundantly clear.)
Our family’s growing in
April, by one!
A new little baby will be so
much fun.
We’re waiting to know if it’s
pink or blue,
We do know it’s cute (and
likely blonde, too).
We hope this verse find you
all healthy and well;
Just thinking of you tends to
make our hearts swell.
Thanks for your love and your
friendship sincere--
Best wishes to you for a
blessed new year!
This picture is from Dec 2013.
The kids look a year older now and the parents at least a year younger.
