Bear Flat

Instead of a game of scrabble or a movie on Friday night, we decided to go for a little hike up "Y" mountain. It was about 8pm by the time we headed out on our last-minute adventure. Bear Flat is about an hour up past the top of the "Y." While the trail to the "Y" is wide and not very attractive, the continuation past the "Y" is much more scenic. We enjoyed that little hike and were glad that the evening brought cool weather. When we got to where we camped, at Bear Flat, our sweaty backs actually made us pretty chilly. Thankfully we had sweatshirts. Since we were only going for a night, we didn't worry about packing light. For the first time, we slept in a tent. We always sleep under the stars without a shelter, even in January, but this time we gave the tent a try. We both had some reading to do, so the tent prevented bugs from swarming around our headlamps. We had to be down early in the morning, so it was only a 12-hour adventure, but it made for a fun Friday night date.
