Caleb at 5 months

We can't get enough of this smiley little guy and we sure can't believe he's been with us for 5 months already! He is growing up so quickly. With Eliza we were anticipating each milestone. With Caleb, he is hitting them (around the same time as Eliza) before I even think about them.

According to our scale, he is somewhere around 18 pounds. He didn't last very long in 3-6 month clothing, though a few things still fit. Mostly he wears 9 month and even some 12 month clothes. Though he doesn't look as big as Eliza was at this age (and he isn't), he is still a solid little guy!

Just before turning 5 months old (while Daddy was in Mexico), Caleb rolled over from front to back (to his left). He can also sit up for about 20 seconds on his own. He uses his hands well and loves to grab his feet. He is interested in anything within his reach (my hair, my glasses, what is on my plate, etc).

He loves standing up (and always has), but he isn't a big fan of the Exersaucer. Unfortunately, Eliza is. She can get in herself, but inevitably gets herself stuck and needs help to get out.

We got a Bumbo for him over Christmas (another baby accessory that Eliza likes to hijack), but it may be a little too late to really convert him to it. He will sit in happily for a little bit (if there are things to play with on the tray), but as soon as he gets upset he straightens his body out and just about pushes himself over backward. It's also tight on his thighs (my kids need super-sized Bumbos). Oh, and if he decides to fill his diaper while he's in it, it goes straight up his back, no exceptions.

Caleb LOVES Eliza. She gets him to laugh so easily without even trying. He just watches her be herself and cracks up. She loves it when he laughs, so she laughs too. It is so precious. I have mentioned in the past that Eliza is a little rough with him and he often gets a terrified look when we sees her coming. Well he has toughened up now. There have been so many times when I have been trying to stop Eliza from doing something to him, but instead of cry or scream, he just laughs. She will be laying on top of him and he thinks it's hilarious. I'm still not going to be leaving them alone together any time soon, but it is nice that he can handle her love a little better now.

Caleb is not a fan of driving in the car. He likes to be where he can see Mom. If she's in view (or better yet, if she's holding him), all is well.

Caleb still sleeps in our room in the Pack-n-Play right now. I still nurse him 3+ times a night. He has had a hard time sleeping lately. I'm blaming it on his teeth that were coming in (the two bottom ones have since come in and sleeping has improved, but you'll have to wait until the 6 month post to officially hear about that).

Standing with Daddy.

The serious, I've-just-survived-3-hours-of-church look.

He looks SO much like Eliza in that picture! It's crazy how it really comes out sometimes but other times I can't even see it.

It's so true that the second time around the milestones just creep up on you, especially when they are so small like this. I really learned to appreciate Bradley's baby stage a lot better than Sam's. It seemed to just fly right by!
