Happy New Year 2014

We love this chance to look back on the year
And share our adventures with friends far and near.
For our family picture we thought we would cheat
It's not quite Christmas, more like Trick-or-Treat.

Mike has been practicing law for a year
It's nice to be settling in a career.
His business is growing, he's working long days,
His clients are coming and singing his praise.
He writes lots of trusts, does small businesses too.
And handles your real estate deals till they're through
At church he's in charge of all the young men
He camps and adventures like he's young again.
The kids love their daddy-- he's patient and kind,
The most gentle and loving guy you'll ever find.

Steph has been busy with life in the sticks
There's gardening and canning and dinner to fix.
She's now used to life so far out of town
That driving an hour cannot make her frown.
Her Etsy shop's had its biggest year yet
It's nice extra income to pay law school debt.
The kids keep her busy, dull moments are rare,
She still likes to craft when there're moments to spare.

Eliza's in school-- she started grade K.
She loves it so far and has not missed a day!
She likes to ride bikes, play piano and read.
She's so independent she won't admit need.
She doesn't think small; she's a big-dream pursuer.
She's got great ideas as an entrepreneur.
She's been losing teeth-- right now she's at four.
When she plays with her brothers life's never a bore.

Caleb is silly and has a quick mind.
He's creative, energetic and usually kind.
He likes to play chase, to wrestle, climb trees,
To tie ropes in knots, run away with your keys.
He loves to build things with real tools and wood.
His two-wheeled bike riding is awfully good!
Caleb likes scriptures to read and act out
He's learning to whisper and not always shout.

Josh is a typical boy of age two
But extra polite with his "please" and "thank you."
He runs everywhere and rarely sits still,
Makes trouble and messes and mischief at will.
He's got potty power, a wonderful feat.
His smile and his hugs are especially sweet.

This year our dear Lily would have been six.
When we think about her our feelings are mixed.
We're sad she's not with us to grow up and play
But we're happy to know we'll be with her someday.
We know God is good and his plan is so grand
We've learned to be patient and notice his hand.

We love to remember the birth of God's son.
Of all born on earth, we know he's the one
Who saves us from sin and from death sets us free
So we with our families forever can be.
Our gift to him, we give every day
As we love one another, his precepts obey.

We hope you are well. To us you are dear.

Have a most Happy Christmas and blessed new year!

This is our 10th annual poem!  That's a lot of rhyming!  See most of the past years here.
