Eliza and Caleb's First Race

*I'm back dating this post to when I should have written it, you know 6 months ago.*

This summer, the kids participated in their first running race.  The county fair has a 1K kids fun run on kids' day at the fair.

We got there early and scoped out the course so they would know what to expect.  They ran two heats, so Eliza and Caleb were with the 7 and under crowd.

They were a both a little nervous, but having one another to rely on made it all okay.  I caught them holding hands at the starting line.  It warmed my mama heart.

They started out strong with the pack.  They both ran the entire two laps of the 1K (.6 miles), which kind of surprised me after seeing how fast they started out.  The course had a pretty steep hill too.

The race wasn't timed and there weren't any "winners," but for the family record, Caleb finished about 50 yards before Eliza.

They got ribbons and a goody bag for participating.  Their goody bag had a pedometer with a high pitched alarm (which they thought was fun, but Mom didn't).
