Maybe you didn't know...

Since I was chosen as the spotlighted employee this month at my work (probably because I was going to retire), I had to come up with a list of interesting things about myself. I figure I may as well post it here since it is already written. Enjoy!
  • I earned my Girl Scout Gold Award, the Girl Scout equivalent of Eagle Scout.
  • I can put both of my legs behind my neck, though I haven’t attempted it in the past 8 months and will probably wait a few months before trying it.
  • I am adept at primitive fire-making. I’m pretty confident that using just sticks, I can make a bigger, hotter fire than you can using matches, even in the wind or rain.
  • I always win at Boggle. Always.
  • Mike and I lived in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for 4 months where we taught the Career Workshop and Self-Employment workshop for LDS Employment Services. We also taught English at a technical school.
  • In 2001, along with an ambitious roommate, I biked 345 miles from Provo to St. George (mostly on Hwy 89) in the middle of August. We carried everything we needed on our bikes and camped along the way. It was lots of hard work, but well worth it!
  • I’m fluent in Spanish. I’ve also studied Mandarin Chinese and Arabic.
  • I am the oldest of four kids. Growing up I was not-so-affectionately known as “Miss Bossy Pants” by my siblings. I wasn’t bossy though—just good at organizing our efforts.
  • One of my less obvious hobbies is computer programming. I took a few classes in college and really enjoyed it (and did better than most of the kids who were majoring in it... they really resented that I was just taking the class for fun).
  • I’m married to the most wonderful man! I know it’s cliché, but it’s really true. I am super blessed.
  • When I was in about 6th grade, I jumped off a ski lift. I was kicking my feet around like you aren’t supposed to do, and got my ski caught in a fence. In order to prevent breaking my ski or my leg, I opted to jump off into the fluffy snow below. I was fine and I didn’t even get in trouble!
  • I competed in my first triathlon last June.
What are some obscure tidbits about you?

I am left handed but I cut with scissors using my right hand… I have tried using left-handed scissors, but I am terrible with them. I also computer-mouse right-handed.
