Eliza at 8 Months

Eliza is 8 months old today (notice I got to this post right on time). She is changing so much every day. It's impossible to capture each moment and take it all in before she moves on to her next stage of development. She is still the adorable, happy baby she has always been, just with a few more tricks.

She gets almost anywhere she wants to. A few days ago, she crawled over to her Exersaucer and climbed into the bottom. She was having a great time under there.

Her hair seems to be growing more rapidly all of a sudden. You can hardly tell in pictures since it's so light, but it goes down over her ears. I guess she's in one of those awkward stages between long and short hair.

Notice those wide eyes. We see them a lot. Eliza has yet to learn the art of napping. The car is our best bet for a guaranteed nap, which is unfortunate because it usually means we're going somewhere and I'll have to wake her. The next best nap solution is to nurse her to sleep on the Boppy on my lap. Several times a week I get her to nap in her bed. She has to be just the right mix of tired, but not too tired. Of course, it's always when Daddy is home that she makes napping in her bed look easy. One day last week she went 12 hours without a nap. Thankfully she doesn't usually have an aversion to her bed at night time. She's pretty good at going to sleep. You'd think she would be sleeping through the night by now, but she still gets up for Mommy milk 2 to 3 times a night (on a good night). With as good of a baby as she is, it's nothing to complain about.

Eliza's giggling grin gives a great view of her 6 teeth. She has doubled her number of teeth this month! They are sharp! She has drawn blood and given us bruises with them.

Eliza is a great eater (which wouldn't surprise anyone who has laid eyes on her). We haven't found a food that she doesn't like. The new addition to her diet this month was Cheerios. She has fun picking them up and trying to get them in her mouth. She gets solids 1 to 2 times a day and other than that feasts on breastmilk. She weighs a little over 24 pounds.

Eliza is an advanced reader (and eater). She reads (and eats) books at a second grade level. Here she is reading "Frog and Toad" with Daddy. Besides a few minor distractions, she was attentive through the all of story time.

Eliza is a good helper. Here she is helping me rake leaves (our yard was absolutely covered in leaves). She thought that she would help by eating the leaves since she didn't have a rake.

Eliza is such a beautiful, happy little girl. We love her and we feel especially blessed to watch her as she grows and learns new things every day.

Eliza is a big girl! She looks great! Parker had his two year appointment yesterday and he was 27 pounds. My kids are just little, I guess.

That’s comforting to me to know that she still wakes up for you to eat. Seems like my baby is the only one here who doesn’t sleep through the night yet. But Bradley’s like Eliza, he loves to eat! :)

Those baby teeth are so sharp! I hope she is taking it easy on you. :)
She has the cutest toothy grin! I think leaves are good for babies. It makes their poo softer… oh wait… like they need that.

Eliza is a good baby. I love the picture with her in the leaves. Ellis never crawled under her exersaucer — I guess she missed that rite of passage.

YAY!… I am finally getting around to making a comment on this post. I have bene meaning to for quite some time.

Eliza is amazingly cute. Although I am biased in the direction of Wendi’s kids (as I see them all the time and was there to see Sara birthed), I do think Eliza takes the cake when it comes to the diversity of expressions she has. Amazing. I just want to know what is going on inside that head of hers.

Maybe she will be an actress when she grows up. I know what her first role could be…. :)
