Halloween 2008

One of the benefits of moving is that we can have costume re-runs! We decided to wear our costumes from 2006 (You can read the story of their making here).

We decided to add Eliza in as the White Rabbit. I made her costume using a fleece snowsuit as the base, then adding ears I sewed from fleece. I sewed a vest using the snowsuit to gauge the size. You'll notice that the vest fits just fine over the 18-24 month snowsuit, until Eliza is in it. That was really sad because I thought the vest was so cute (and it was a little mind boggling to make without a pattern). I hand-stitched her pocket watch because I figured it would spend most of its time in her mouth. It did.

Much of our Halloween fun was actually the day before Halloween. We went to a Halloween event at the Law School. Our costumes, especially Eliza's, were a big hit. We posed for lots of pictures. After a short nap, we headed to Trunk or Treat at the church. We had a little tea party an passed out candy. Then we went to a great party with some of the LDS law students. We had lots of fun!

The vest stayed closed for a pictures, but that's all. In case you're wondering, the vest uses velcro closures, as I don't know the first thing about making button holes.

Our friends Dane and Teresa came over on Halloween to help us pass out candy to all the little (and some big) monsters who knocked on our door. They brought some delicious curry to share with us. I think their great outfits made it taste even more authentic.

You guys look so awesome!! Emily was Alice this year, too! I showed her the pictures and she was dying over Eliza. She was so disappointed we didn’t think to make Maddie the rabbit. Maybe next year– her costume was so big it will probably still fit!

Great job!!
