Caleb at 21 months

Caleb is such a fun little guy.  We absolutely adore him. He is so sweet and affectionate, yet such a typical boy.  He loves being outside.  He can open the back door and let himself out (into our fenced-in backyard, thank goodness).  He quickly finds a new favorite stick and some mud to play in.  He doesn't care what the weather is like.  He loves to get wet and doesn't seem to feel the cold or heat.  He doesn't care about shoes or a coat.  In the picture above, he had been splashing in a large planter pot that had big puddles of water on top of the dirt.  As you can see, he's cute with freckles too.

Sometimes he makes it out with some choice accessories (Eliza's headband and my shoe in this case).

Caleb loves babies.  He loves to take care of dolls like Eliza does.  We can never go anywhere with one doll, there must always be one for each kid.  He loves being a daddy.  Even more than baby dolls, Caleb loves real babies.  We have lots of friends with babies (anyone younger than Caleb qualifies, but especially if they can't walk yet).  When he spots a baby he says "BABY!  Hold!  Hold!  Hold!" until he gets his way or I remove him from the scene.  He needs to be watched closely because if a baby is just sitting there or crawling around, he will try to pick the baby up his self, and it's always by the neck.

You can't tell it by this picture, but Caleb was in heaven when Mike took him on the Father/Son campout this month.  He got eaten alive by mosquitos, but he had a great time being able allowed to wander freely and gather all the sticks he wanted.  He slept way better than he does at home.  Instead of getting up at 5:30 or 6:00, he slept in until almost 8:00!  Maybe we should make the tent his permanent bedroom.
