Easter 2011

We enjoyed a simple family Easter this year.

We dyed eggs outside in old t-shirts.

I introduced the Easter Bunny to Eliza this year and she thought the idea was pretty ridiculous.  We see bunnies in our yard pretty frequently, so when she hears "bunny," she thinks of the real thing.  When I told her that the Easter Bunny will come and put some treats in our Easter basket she laughed and said "Oh Mom, that's so silly!  Bunnies don't come in our house with treats!"  Oh well.  Someone brought treats to our house, bunny or not.  The treats included a new dress for Eliza with a matching tie for Caleb that I made from a nearly new tablecloth (more details in my next crafty update).

We took a few pictures before church.

Eliza wanted to show our neighbors her new dress after church.  The kids had a blast playing on their swing.

The best part of the Easter season was focusing on the resurrection of the Savior and what it means for our family.  We talked about it with the kids a lot.  They learned the real meaning of Easter in word and song.  It is so sweet to hear them sing the words:
Did Jesus really live again?
Yes, when the third day came,
He wakened and he left the tomb;
He called Mary’s name.

Did Jesus come to those he loved?
Yes, people touched his feet,
And of the fish and honeycomb
He did truly eat.

And there were nail-prints in his hands
And a spear wound in his side.
Did Jesus really live again
After he had died? Oh yes! And so shall I!
