4th of July

Our church has an annual pancake breakfast on the 4th of July.  Originally we weren't planning to go (it's a long way to drive... early in the morning... on a holiday... for pancakes), but when we heard there would be a "bike parade" we knew the kids would LOVE it.

So we went!

They decorated their bikes the night before and were excited to parade them around.

Thinking it would just be a slow, short, check-out-my-decorations kind of ride, I didn't bring helmets. Bad Mom.  It turned out to be more like the Indy 500.  Eliza was flying around the circular parking lot as fast as she could go, lap after lap after lap.

Caleb chose to decorate and ride Eliza's old bike since he is still relying on the training wheels.  I was grateful that the training wheels slowed him down, making potential crashes less dangerous.

Mike (bless his breaking back) pushed Josh on his classy purple trike around for a full lap.

The kids were hot and exhausted after riding around and around.  Eliza surely went over a mile.  Caleb rode just as long, just not as efficiently.

Thankfully we made it out without an injuries, but we will for sure bring helmets next year.

In the evening we visited Elizabeth's family in Sacramento.  We had a delicious dinner with lots of yummy food.  The cousins played together.  We gave thanks for their new air conditioner.

Josh did a lot of loving on baby Melody.

Caleb loved on her too.

When it got dark we watched fireworks from their front lawn.  It was a fun day with family and friends!
