Eliza was excited to be in her school Christmas program. The kindergartners sang Rudolph and Up On the Housetop. Eliza was easy to find in the middle in her green dress.
I was in charge of the program portion of the annual church Christmas dinner. Mike and I adapted (well, nearly entirely re-wrote) a script about the symbols of Christmas. In addition to the speaking parts, we had an audience sing-along. The youth all memorized their parts and did a wonderful job.
Mike crafted this star the night before the program. It was pretty much amazing. He drilled 300 holes in foam core board and stuck white icicle lights through. We were careful to only have it on for ten minutes-- it gets incredibly hot. We were grateful that it did not start a fire.
Side note: I told Mike we should save it for future use, but after it sat on our piano for a month (we couldn't find the right size box for it), he took it apart. Such a shame.
On our way down south, the kids really wanted to take pictures with some cacti. After a couple individual shots, we tried for a group one, but that ended in tears because Eliza knelt on a cactus sticker.
On our way to New Mexico, we stopped by my grandma's house in Mesa. The kids loved her porch swing.
Mike was a little jealous of this star over the nativity at the Mesa Arizona Temple.
We enjoyed looking at the temple lights with my grandma. I always feel so at home at my grandma's house and like to take every opportunity to see her.
