Christmas was only the beginning of our family adventure in New Mexico. We spent a whole day at
Explora, a great hands-on children's science museum.
Josh gravitated to any activity involving water. Mike wasn't far behind.
They had a great little workshop where the kids can invent all sorts of creations out of recyclables. My kids were in heaven. They could have easily spent the entire day in this room.
The only downside is that now it's impossible to throw anything away without the kids saving it for future crafts. I can only handle so many TP roll/milk jug/egg carton/popsicle stick creations sitting around the house (and one young lady has a really hard time parting with any projects or future projects).
That's me riding the 2-story bike on a tight rope. Even though I knew I wasn't going to fall, I still had a hard time taking my hands off.
At first Mike wasn't going to be able to ride it because the height limit is 6'5'' and he was pretty close to the weight limit as well. While many people would just slouch two inches to make it, Mike's integrity is worth more than a two-story bicycle ride. He told the lady that he was 6'7'' and asked if he could still do it. She weighed him and since he was just under the weight limit she let him go! Most of the other adults got to ride too!
While the adults took turns riding the bike, the kids hung out in the wind and air area. Lucy especially felt right at home.
We made all manner of whirly-gigs and tested them out.
The kids learned that flying a plane is harder than it looks. I already knew that.
One day we got everyone together for family pictures. We haven't got the real ones back from my sister yet, but these are a few Mike took of the (cold and not completely cooperative) kids while we were waiting for our turn.
Isn't that static electricity amazing?!
Jay is waaay into BeyBlades. We had never heard of them before this trip, but now we hear "Three, Two, One, Let it rip!" in our sleep sometimes. BeyBlades were a definite theme throughout the week.
Grandma made the five older grandkids a rubber band bracelet making kit and taught them how to use it. Eliza and Caleb have made several since then. I'm especially impressed at how well Caleb does with it. He has made some with very minimal help.

Those bracelets! Grace has made so many and looks like an 80's chick. It's hilarious. The other day she couldn't get her shirt all the way on because all her bracelets were in the way.
Hey we went to that children's museum on one of our troops between Illinois and California. It was a great stop after 30 hours in the car. Also it was free with our reciprocal deal they did from our Champaign children's museum passes.
Eliza's hair on the trampoline is awesome! And that bike ride looked pretty cool.
