Eliza Lately

Here are some things about Eliza lately:

• Eliza loves her long hair and wants to continue to grow it out until it's as long as Rapunzel's.  It's already at her waist.  We usually put in a pony tail or braids because otherwise it gets tangled and is not fun to brush out.
• Eliza loves school.  
• Eliza loves to read.  She is helping others in her class learn to read too.  I love that she likes to read stories to her brothers (especially on weekend mornings when mom and dad want to sleep in a little).
• Eliza has a healthy self-esteem.  
• Eliza knows everything.  Whenever you try to tell her something or correct something she always begins a reply with, "I know.  I know."
• She is interested in math and does quite well.  The other night we rented a movie from Redbox which cost $1.30 for a night.  Randomly (we weren't talking about it at the moment) after mumbling some numbers, she said, "If we keep it for three nights it will cost $3.90."
• Eliza wants to be a teacher when she grows up.  She loves teaching Caleb and Josh "school" when she get home.  She gets really frustrated when Caleb doesn't mind her or when he gets distracted.

This is one of the last pictures of Eliza with her front teeth.  They were loose for a long time, which meant a lot of fussing when I brushed them.  I'm glad they are both out now.

There was some drama when the tooth fairy took her tooth in exchange for money, way back when she lost her first two teeth.  Ever since then, Eliza has been leery of the tooth fairy.  She has decided she would rather keep the teeth than get a dollar.

Eliza wanted a picture with a robot she built.

Eliza and Mike went to a Daddy Daughter dance at her school.  They came home sweaty and exhausted but had a fun time together.

 Eliza was excited to show us her work at her school open house.  Caleb was interested in other things.

 

Eliza showed us the calendar.  Each morning the calendar is a big part or their routine.  They also learn the ASL signs for each of the letters along with a cute little verse about each one that has to do with the letter, its sounds, and what the sign looks like.
