Eliza at 4 Months

On July 4th, we not only celebrated the birthday of our country, we celebrated 4 months of having Eliza with us! It's amazing that another month has flown by. Eliza is growing up so fast. The rest of her is finally starting to catch up (a little) to her cheeks. She's very alert and aware. She loves to scope out new places and people. It's a good thing I don't wear dangling earrings because she grabs everything in sight! She's pretty coordinated. She definitely recognizes her mom and dad. She gets a huge grin when daddy walks in the door when he comes home from work. When she wakes up from a nap and is feeling lonely, the sight of mommy brings an instant smile and she knows everything is okay. Her new favorite hobby is screaming. It's a happy scream. Mostly she just likes to hear her own voice which at times is quite loud and high-pitched! She can also laugh! We love figuring out new ways to elicit a laugh. She is loads of fun to play with. We love her to pieces!

During the month, Eliza got to meet Aunt Whitney and Uncle Jacob for the first time, as well as Uncle Dan, Aunt Brenda, and cousin Hannah. She also went on her first camping trip and first hike. Eliza graduated from the bassinet this month, since it only goes up to 15 lbs (though her length was also quickly becoming an issue). Thanks Ana for letting us borrow the bassinet!

Today we had her well-baby check-up. She's doing great! Once again, the doctor was impressed with her size. She's huge, yet proportional. At 4 months (and three days) she weighs 17 lbs 12 oz (99th percentile, off the charts, actually), measures 26 inches (96th percentile), and has a head circumference of 17 inches (94th percentile).

Here are some shots from the last month of the big babe:

Below she's playing with Aunt Whitney. We bought this tie-dyed onesie about a week after we found out I was pregnant with Eliza. It's a 6-9 month size and it fits her perfectly! I had to put a bow in her hair so the observant person would know she was a girl (I've decided there's nothing you can do about the unobservant person who doesn't register pink or bows or lace as a sign that your babe is not a boy).

I put Eliza in a surprise onesie for Father's Day (after church). It says "Daddy's Lucky Charm." I found it on sale at Old Navy after St. Patrick's Day and have been waiting for Daddy's special day to bring it out.
