- We were in the garage while Mike finished building his workbench. Eliza picked up a block of scrap wood (roughly 4" square) and held it up to her eye and said "camera, camera!"
- Eliza was laying on her tummy on a bench in a lobby on campus happily kicking her legs and moving her arms. She said "swimming" and Mike said something like "That's a silly place to go swimming." She pointed to the bench and said "water, wet." Since then, she has done this several times on the carpet. (It was especially funny to me because as a kid I remember laying out blankets in the living room that we would "swim" in and dive off the couches into.)
- When I was vacuuming the other day, Eliza took one of the attachment tubes to play with. She found a xylophone mallet and stuck it inside the tube and pulled it out. She put the mallet up to her lips each time she pulled it out. When I looked quizzically at her, she started saying "bubbles, bubbles!"
Notice how she is once again sporting Daddy's socks over her jammies. Every morning when Mike is getting ready, she gets a pair of socks for Daddy and one for herself, then requests that he put them on her.
- I put Eliza down for a nap the other day and she played for quite a while in her room, then got upset and wouldn't go to sleep, so I went in to settle her and try to get her into bed. When I walked in, I found her pillow (without the case, of course) on the floor with two of her dolls neatly placed on top of it. I thought it was cute, but wasn't sure if it was intentional. I put her in bed and she requested all her dolls and stuffed animals by name as she always does, so when I left she had a bed full of sleep friends. When I went in to get her after her nap, there were the same two dollies laying on her pillow just like the first time. Her placement was intentional. She sacrifices her pillow for her babies. How sweet.
I know this is only the beginning! It's so much fun to be a part of her little world!

oh man. i love it.
so far, in all the stages i've discovered, this one you explain with the first showings of imagination, is my favorite.
we have a picture of ellie when she was eliza's age, almost exactly. she is in her crib and has all of her stuffed animals (about 10) sitting in a circle in front of her! she was just babbling away and ryan and i just couldn't believe it! it was like she was holding a meeting with them.
the swimming story is my favorite, such a smart little thing!
i meant experienced, not discovered. ha ha. but, you know what i meant i think:)
And their imagination gets even more and more creative and involved. It's so fun!
This is the fun age, when they start using their imagination, I look at Justin and just have to laugh and want to know what he is thinking in his little head :) Oh and I LOVE the cute family picture you have in front of the Christmas tree!!
That is sooo cute about the dolls! Alanna loves dolls too - it's so interesting that girls are just born with that mothering instinct. When I gave a doll to my boys when they were younger they would just chuck them as if they were a ball! Cute family picture too!
