Caleb at 6 months

It's hard to believe our little man is six months old! This is the age Eliza was when we moved into our house in Illinois.

Don't worry, I only put his Bumbo on the table when I am sitting right there and Eliza is strapped into her seat. He's still not a big fan of the Bumbo or the Exersaucer. Maybe we started him in them too late. Oh well. He usually will sit for a little bit before he starts arching his back and demanding down.

Caleb was really excited to start eating rice cereal a couple weeks ago. We haven't gotten into a real routine with it yet, but he's been having it a few times a week. He gobbles it right up. He wakes up pretty often at night. I was hoping the rice cereal would help him sleep longer, but it hasn't really (maybe when I'm more consistent). Feeding him back to sleep is the easiest way to do it, so I nurse him a handful of times during the night. We still swaddle him at night, both for warmth and comfort. He has been a little congested at night time, but loathes the nose sucker (bulb syringe thingy). I still use it on him while he screams bloody murder.

A few days after Caleb turned five months old, his two bottom teeth popped right in. They are razor sharp. Ask me how I know! Never mind... don't.

Just a few days ago, Caleb started sitting up really well on his own. Sometimes he'll go for 10 minutes or more before falling over. He still hasn't rolled over back to front, though he's been pretty close a few times when he was reaching for a toy or something. He kind of claps now when he's excited. He still loves reaching for his toes.

I had to get a picture in this onesie that we bought at a fair right after we found out I was pregnant with Eliza. He barely fit in it, so he really only got to wear it once. There's a picture of Eliza in it in her 4 month post.

I forgot to mention last month that Caleb's eyes have completely cleared up (as most babies' eyes do), so thankfully he won't need surgery like Eliza did (her tear ducts didn't even get blocked until she was this age).

At Caleb's well baby visit yesterday, he weighed 20 lbs 13 oz (93rd percentile) and was 26 5/8 inches long (58th percentile). I was surprised at how short he measured. The doctor assured me that measuring length of babies is far from a flawless operation. So I shouldn't worry that he is going down on the growth chart in height. It is funny that Eliza seemed so much chunkier and she was in the 90th+ percentile for height and weight. It seems like Caleb should be the chunkier looking one since he is a lot shorter. Even though he doesn't look super duper chunky, anyone who has picked him up will tell you that he is solid!
