Caleb at 18 months

Caleb is officially one-and-a-half!  He attended the nursery at church last Sunday for the first time and didn't shed a tear.  He loved it! At his 18-month Well Baby check-up Caleb weighed 27 lbs 6 oz (70th percentile) and was 32.5 inches tall (50th percentile).  His head circumference (49 cm) puts him in the 80th percentile.

Caleb is our super-duper pooper.  The kid has been pooping a minimum of 3 times a day for the past 2 months.  Yesterday it was 4 times.  Today it was 5.  And these aren't change-his-diaper-but-oops-he-wasn't-quite-finished episodes.  Each is its own individual, soft, diaper-filling masterpiece.  Not cool for anyone.  His poor little bum gets so sore and, well, someone has to change all those diapers.  Not cool.  I asked the doctor if it was a problem and he said that medically he looks fine because he is still growing well.  Anyone else have a super-duper pooper?  Advice?

At the beginning of the month, Caleb surprised me by telling me that he had a poopy diaper.  He had never told me before, so I didn't know if that was what he was really saying.  I picked him up and smelled him, but he didn't smell poopy to me.  He insisted, so I peeked in the back of his diaper and sure enough his diaper was loaded.  After changing him, I decided to leave his diaper off until bath time so his little bum could air out (see above paragraph).  Eliza was quick to lend him a pair of her panties (she has been trying to potty train him since before he could walk).  After a little bit, he came and told me that he needed to poop, so we rushed him into the bathroom and sure enough he went.  This happened twice before bath time (#1 and a #2).  We thought we may have a potty prodigy on our hands.  We got him his own underwear and tried in out a little, but I decided to wait until it's warmer so he can just run around in underwear and I don't have to put pants on him a hundred times a day.

My beater-eaters.

Caleb the climber had a little accident a couple weeks ago.  He was on a kitchen chair and decided to try climbing up the slats on the back of it like a ladder.  Of course the chair fell over and Caleb went down.  His mouth was bleeding and must have been the part that hit the ground since there weren't any bumps anywhere else on his head.  Several hours later, he still had blood pooled at the top of his front teeth where the teeth meet the gums.  I'm assuming the teeth must have been pushed back and that's why they are bleeding there. The next days his gums were grayish.  I was afraid his front teeth were going to fall out.

Thankfully they haven't yet.  Eliza was sharing an apple with him a week ago until I saw that there was blood on the apple.  His gums started bleeding again!  No more apples for a while for this guy!

I find Caleb hanging all sorts of places.  I'm impressed at how long he can hang before he gets down or falls.

Caleb is still a great nurturer.  He loves dolls and real babies, too.

Caleb loves to help in the kitchen.  Unfortunately he has a hard time giving up his batter after it's all mixed.

Caleb found his own special nook on top of the computer tower.

Since I listed Eliza's vocabulary on her 18-month post I will do the same for Caleb, since this is his baby book too.  We have been compiling a list over the past couple weeks, but I'm sure we forgot some.  A lot of these words would only be understood by us and lots of them are pronounced with just the first sound (meaning there are lots of homonyms).   In alphabetical order (about 90 words):
ah ah (monkey sound), amen, baa (sheep, goat sound), baby, bag, ball, banana, bath, bed, bib, bike, bird, bite, blanket, boo, book, boots, Boppy, bowl, bread, bubble, Bumbo, bye, car, cereal, chair, cheese, coat, computer, cow, cracker, Dada, Derrick, doctor, dog, door, draw, drink, ear, eyes, fish, food, foot, fork, frog, grandpa, hi, Jesus, juice, Liza, Mama, milk, mine, moo, more, mouth, neigh, night night, nose, phone, pillow, please, poop, potty, pull, raar (lion sound), roll, sad, see, shoe, sleeve, snow, sock, spoon, stuck, teeth, thanks, toes, tool, toys, trash, tree, truck, uh oh, walk, wall, wash, water, wee wee, woof (dog sound), yes

His poor teeth :( I hope they don't fall out too.

My little brother banged his front tooth on the fireplace mantle when he was a toddler and the tooth turned gray but never fell out until it was ready to many years later.

Is he really 18 months? Wow.
You are so good to record all the words. I never did that very consistently with Ellis.

I hope his teeth are doing all right!
