Living at Grammy and Grandpops' house has been an adjustment for Eliza. She has been a little more difficult than usual and has thrown more tantrums than we're used to. I'm sure it's a combination of the new environment, missing friends and routines, and having a new audience.
Eliza has also started talking like a baby quite a bit. She started doing it a little when Caleb first started talking, but she does it more frequently now. It really bugs me since I know she talks very well, so I used to correct her and tell her not to talk like a baby. That wasn't super effective, so I've tried to just ignore it and hope it's just a phase she's going through.
When she's in a good mood, she is as sweet as ever. She enjoys reading books, helping with anything a grown up is doing, playing outside, singing songs, building with blocks and Legos, playing with babies, and drawing and coloring. Eliza loves to play piano while singing her own original songs. Lately most of her songs revolve around going to the temple when she gets older so she can get married to a nice boy, who is usually specified as Caleb. It's pretty darn cute.
After Caleb petted and held the chicks, Eliza got brave enough to touch them too.
We washed the van for our Family Home Evening activity and Eliza took charge of the hose. We all got wet.
Eliza loves to dress up and play pretend. She and Caleb were able to turn junk from on the deck into an exciting adventure.
Eliza likes to "extercise."
Eliza built a "friend boat" in the bathtub using the same bath toys that Mike used as a kid.
Can you see the pride in those eyes? Eliza has been helping Grandpa build a bathroom in the basement. She also had time to complete a project of her own. She started all the nails herself!
Here are a few funny conversations and quotations from Eliza that made me smile:
Eliza was about to do something she wasn't supposed to.
Mom: N-n-n-n-no
Eliza: Those are baby words! N-n-n-n-n-no is what babies say.
Eliza was growling grumpily when we were brushing teeth the other night.
Dad: Are you going to be a tiger when you grow up?
Eliza: No!
Dad: Are you going to be a bear when you grow up?
Eliza: No!
Conversation continues with several more growling animals..
Dad: Well what do you want to be when you grow up?
Eliza: I want to be a grown up when I grow up!
When will all of the days end? (This led to a deep discussion about the second coming of the Savior and the millennium)
Does the baby in Mom's tummy have a diaper on?
Eliza refers to shorts as "short sleeve pants."

We have been having the same tantrum problem, although it has gotten better this month, probably because we've been busy with family in town from both sides and the grandmas have totally spoiled Grace into obedience. :)
I love that top picture. Age 3 can be a bit of a challenge. We are having some of the same issues right now. Thankfully I can look at Sam and see that it's something that they can grow out of and it's not just a part of their personality.
