If you haven't noticed by all the blog updates in the last week, I am trying to get caught up on the blog so I'm ready to post about the arrival of our new baby. I am due a week from today! We are excited to meet the newest little one and know if it's a boy or girl! The kids usually say it's a girl, but they are well aware (and will tell you) that we don't know what it is yet. I know they will be thrilled with either because they both love babies.
I have not taken as many belly shots with this baby (and some of the ones I have taken, I don't particularly want to post here). Suffice it to say that I am still pregnant, still growing, and still doing well. I look pregnant enough to have random strangers ask when I am due, but they always say I look small for being that far along. The other day I had a man say "That must be a small baby!" which makes me laugh because people said the same sorts of things when I was pregnant with my other nine-and-a-half pound children. I attribute the small-looking baby distribution to my height-- the baby has lots of room to go up, so it doesn't have to go out so far. Believe me, I sure feel big! The baby still kicks my ribs and makes any sort of bending very difficult.
I am not one of the women who says, "I can't wait to get this baby out" near the end of pregnancy. I am totally fine with the baby taking its time (as long as it comes by a week or so past my due date). I always have lots of projects I want to get done before the baby comes and this time is no different. Our little welcome home disaster set me back on getting other projects done, so I have plenty to keep me busy while awaiting baby. Don't get me wrong, we are super excited for this baby, especially since his or her gender will be a surprise. I just know that I can do a lot more with my wondering and worrying energy than wonder and worry (like sew halloween costumes and freeze apple pie filling).
I am blessed with pretty easy pregnancies, so you won't get any complaints from me. With this one I have not thrown up a single time (though I was nauseous in the beginning, like most people). I get wicked heartburn, but with some antacids I can survive. Bending down to pick things (or people) up is about the hardest thing, which is where the two munchkins who are relatively close to the ground come in very handy (except when it's one of them that wants up).
Stay tuned!
