While our blog has been pretty much at a standstill during our crazy summer, time has not stood still, especially for Baby Josh. Although the last blog update for him is at 7 months, he has in fact reached the ripe old age of one. We had a small gathering with family to celebrate.
He wasn't very smiley until after cake. I think he was a little confused about being outside in his chair minus his clothes, with everyone watching him. Can you blame him?
I didn't get a photo of him with his unsmashed turtle smash cake (just video). With the breeze we couldn't get a candle to stay lit for very long, so he didn't get to blow out a candle (or grab at a flame). He liked the cake even though he isn't smiling in most of the pictures.
Not a very impressive cake, I know, but it tasted good and that's what matters, right? [Mom, I know you got me decorating tips, but they weren't unpacked, so I went with my classic cut-the-end-off-the-ziplock-bag method.]
Caleb picked out his own outfit for the occasion, including, but not limited to his dino pajama shirt, pink apron, purple snow boots and red and black necktie.
The other kiddos were excited to decorate their own turtle cakes and then eat them.
When Josh got tired of the cake, he started to eat the banner. Mmmm.
After the cake and banner consumption, Josh lightened up and realized it was fun to be the center of attention, even if he was the only one without clothes.
On their own, Eliza and Caleb chose some of their toys that they thought Josh would like and wrapped them up for him in decorated brown paper bags. We had a few little things for him too, mostly clothes.
Stay tuned for an abbreviated update of Josh's growth and development in the most recent third of his life as soon as I crank out some other pending posts :)
