Bear Hunt

The kids invited me to go on an adventure to hunt bears and see horses.  Bear hunts are pretty common around here.  All you need is a straight stick (bear sword) and you are equipped to take out any bears that come your way.

We spend most of our time on the front 5.5 acres of property here.  The back 1.5 acres is fenced separately (in hopes of someday getting a couple beef cows back there).   You may remember that lovely occasion when we buried a freezer full of rotten meat back here in February.  The kids were eager to head for the fence for our hunt.

The property line backs up to a horse stable.  We met the horses in the winter, but we haven't been back there since everything dried out during the summer.  All the tall dry grass has lots of stickers (burrs) in it.
Caleb was paralyzed by all the stickers and refused to continue (or go back).  Eliza really wanted to go see the horses.  I also remembered that tall grass makes me scared of snakes.  We decided to wait until we get some rain (it's been months and months) until we venture out back again.

I carried Josh back and then came for Caleb.  I'm nice like that.
