In my
post about our drive from Utah to Illinois, I didn't post any pictures of the trip. Boring, I know. The forces have now combined (in our house, computer set up, internet set up, baby sleeping on my lap) to allow you that previously denied privilege. Hold on to your seats!

Our
neighbor saw the moving truck and decided to come help. She played with Eliza, carried things out to the truck, and asked at least a hundred questions.

We loaded an ABF
U-Pack trailer with all of our stuff. We were so grateful for friends with muscles and packing skills. Since you pay by the linear foot, we packed high and kept things as compact as possible. We ended up using a space 8" wide, 9" high, and 9" long. Our stuff weighed just over 4,000 lbs. That's over 2 tons!

Mike tied the load off with rope periodically to prevent shifting. Incredibly, it looked about the same when we opened it in IL. If you look closely, you can see Eliza's arm and leg at the bottom. She hung out on a blanket while I helped (took pictures). Lest you think I put my child in danger of falling off a truck, I should mention that the trailer is 28 feet long. We only used a small part at the front, so she is a long way from the edge.
This is where we stayed in Wamsutter, Wyoming. In case you missed my previous description, it was a single wide trailer divided into 4 motel rooms. Exciting!
This is Eliza in the bed that the three of us shared that night.

We stopped for dinner in North Platte, Wyoming and had a little picnic at this tourist site which was closed. We couldn't resist taking a few shots with the train.

Eliza and I recently read Men To Match My Mountains, by Irving Stone (we read it aloud to the couple upstairs), so the building of the railroads is much more significant and impressive to us now.
Eliza wanted to have a hands-on experience.

what an adventure!!!
I miss you, Stephanie! I’m so glad your trip, moving, and food storaging (don’t think that’s a word) is going so well!
We’ll have to check out that motel on our future drives out to Utah. Wow!
Thanks for the pics! I love adventure stories and love to have adventures with my family (the weird motel stories are the best!). 2 tons of stuff? Are you related to your mother? Ha-ha!
