We had our 20-week ultrasound before we left Champaign. It wasn't that our baby was shy-- we just planned on this little one's gender being a surprise! Since we are equipped with plenty of pink and plenty of blue we thought a surprise would make for an especially exciting delivery. Since we had been talking about making it a surprise since we found out Caleb was a boy, peeking wasn't even a temptation.
Even though we weren't finding out the gender, I was still counting down the days until the ultrasound. I really wanted to see that everything was okay. I have only felt this baby move on rare occasions, which, needless to say, has had me worried. I figured that the non-moving baby meant one of three things: 1. very sad news, 2. a super chill baby (which could be good (temperament) or bad (handicap)), or 3. an anterior placenta. I have prayed a lot and tried to have faith instead of fear.
We were thrilled to know that everything is absolutely fine. The baby looks healthy and is measuring perfect for the due date we have of October 9th. I do, in fact, have an anterior placenta, meaning the placenta is on my tummy side instead of the back side, which is why I don't feel the baby very much. The baby is actually very wiggly and was moving quite a bit, but I couldn't feel any of it. That should change once the baby gets bigger.

That is awesome! We did not find out the gender of our first two, and the surprise was really fun, though everyone else thought we were crazy. Congratulations!
I'm glad everything is going great! I'm also impressed that it still IS a surprise for you. I can't be surprised anymore since I recognize the gender while watching my ultrasounds now. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
woo! Congrats! you are brave - i wouldn't be able to cope very well if i didn't know what kind of human was growing inside of me! I'm excited to find out in another 20 weeks! :) happy pregnancy!
hurray for good news! I think I would make it a surprise if I had both gender babies already too. How fun!

Glad to hear all is well. I had anterior placenta with June... and that made the pregnancy so different. Much less kicks at first. You look adorable.
Congrats! That's super exciting/I dunno how you can wait to find out. I'd be dying to know. :)
