Caleb at 8 Months

We call this guy "little buddy," "little boy," or "little brother," but Eliza has taken to calling him "Caleb Wade." It's pretty cute.

The big highlight this month is Caleb being in his own room! It's actually the craft room/guest bedroom, but until we are ready to let him share a room with Eliza, he can call it home. Having him in a separate room has allowed us to get a better night routine (instead of me nursing him whenever he wakes up because he's screaming two feet away from my head). We try to have him in bed by 8:00 and I feed him at 12:00, 4:00, and 6:30. Hopefully I'll have the 4:00 feeding cut out soon. He is napping much better than he used to. He takes 2-3 naps a day lasting from 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours, but usually around an hour.

Caleb can finally roll over both ways. He doesn't do it much during his waking hours, mostly just when he's in bed. In fact, I only found out that he could roll from back to front because when I went in to check on him when he was napping, I found him on his tummy (though I had laid him down on his back). He doesn't like being on his tummy when he's awake, but he has taken to sleeping on his tummy or side. Needless to say, crawling still looks a ways off.

Caleb likes to babble. His favorite syllables are "da da da," "ma ma ma," and "ba ba ba." He giggles and blows raspberries too.

Caleb now has 5 teeth in (3 on the bottom, 2 on the top) and 2 others (on the top) that are just about to break through. He got 3 of those teeth on our road trip to Arizona, which put him in a lovely mood. So far, teething for Caleb has been more difficult than it was for Eliza. In case there is any question, his teeth are very sharp. When I saw burping him the other day, he turned toward my face and bit my cheek! I guess it could have been worse.

Caleb still loves interacting with his big sister Eliza. She (almost) always makes him smile. She likes to knock him down and lay on top of him. Of course she isn't allowed to do this and we make her get off, but it sure makes him laugh (which just encourages her).

Cale is still a good eater. New foods this month include oatmeal, green beans, puffs, and applesauce that I canned last fall. He almost always makes a disgusted face whenever we start to feed him, but he is over it after a few bites.

Nothing like a big toe for dessert. Can you tell that Caleb had another haircut this month? That makes 2 so far!

Caleb loves being outside. While he isn't a big fan of sitting on prickly mulch, he doesn't mind munching on it.

Caleb is quite the grabber these days. I rarely wear my hair down because it always gets pulled when I do (and I'm lazy). My glasses are another favorite for Caleb. He is always so excited when he pulls them off. It's amazing they are still in one piece. He's also a vicious pincher!

He sure is looking older. It amazes me how fast babies change.
